Michelle King is the co-creator of The Good Wife with her husband and writing partner Robert King. They also serve as executive producers, show runners and writers for the series.

King and her husband Robert co-created the short-lived legal drama series In Justice in 2006. The series aired as a mid-season replacement on ABC. As well as the pilot King co-wrote the episode "Golden Boy". The series was not renewed after completing a thirteen episode first season.

She was a writer and executive producer for the television feature Judy's Got a Gun in 2007, working without Robert on the project.

The Kings co-created The Good Wife, their second legal drama. Their pilot episode was filmed in the 2009 to 2010 development season and was picked up by Columbia Broadcasting Systems (CBS). They served as executive producers for the series. As well as the pilot episode they co-wrote the episodes "Stripped", "Unorthodox", "Hi", "Doubt", and the first season finale "Running" with Co-Producer Corinne Brinkerhoff. King and the writing staff were nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series for the first season.

Michelle remained the co-show runner and an Executive Producer for the second season in fall 2010. She continued to co-write episodes with Robert. They co-wrote the season premiere "Taking Control", the fourth episode "Cleaning House" and the fifth episode "VIP Treatment". They co-wrote the teleplay for the tenth episode "Breaking Up" from a story by Producer Courtney Kemp Agboh. They co-wrote the teleplay for the thirteenth episode "Real Deal" from a story by Co-Executive Producer Keith Eisner. They co-wrote the teleplay for the fourteenth episode "Net Worth" from a story by Executive Story Editor Meredith Averill. They co-wrote the teleplay for the fifteenth episode "Silver Bullet" from a story by Co-Producer Steve Lichtman. They co-wrote the teleplay for the sixteenth episode "Great Firewall" from a story by Co-Executive Producer Leonard Dick. They co-wrote the teleplay for the twentieth episode "Foreign Affairs" from a story by Averill. They co-wrote the teleplay for the twenty first episode "In Sickness" from a story by Lichtman. They co-wrote the teleplay for the season finale "Closing Arguments" from a story by Brinkerhoff. They had promoted Brinkerhoff to Producer for the second season.

Michelle remained a co-show runner and an Executive Producer for the third season in fall 2011. She continued to co-write episodes with Robert. They co-wrote the teleplay for the season premiere "A New Day" from a story by Averill. They promoted Averill to Co-Producer for the third season. They co-wrote the teleplay for the second episode "The Death Zone" from a story by Dick. They co-wrote the teleplay for the third episode "Get a Room" from a story by freelance writer Julia Wolfe. Wolfe had been their assistant during the second season. They co-wrote the teleplay for the eighth episode "Death Row Tip" from a story by freelance writer Matthew Montoya. They co-wrote the ninth episode "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" with Averill. They co-wrote the teleplay for the tenth episode "Parenting Made Easy" from a story by Agboh. They had promoted Agboh to Supervising Producer for the third season. They co-wrote the teleplay for the eleventh episode "What Went Wrong" from a story by Eisner. They co-wrote the teleplay for the thirteenth episode "Bitcoin for Dummies" from a story by Agboh. They co-wrote the teleplay for the fifteenth episode "Live from Damascus" with Dick from a story by Co-Executive Producer Ted Humphrey.
