Randall simmons

Randall A. Simmons was a reservist of the United States Army who stood accused of murdering his wife in 2010.

After a civilian criminal court declared him not guilty, Cook County prosecutor Cary Agos fed information to the JAG corps in order to get Simmons re-tried in a court-martial, thus circumventing the "double jeopardy" rule of law that keeps any person from being tried more than once for the same crime.

Simmons was once again cleared of all charges when it was discovered that his commanding officer, Captain Gaultier, had extorted sexual favors from Simmons' wife by promising her to get Simmons reassigned, and had killed her when she threatened to tell on him after he didn't live up to his promises.

However, soon after this, the Army deployed Simmons to Afghanistan.[1]
